Bridgestone to supply tires for Hyundai Palisade SUV
SEOUL, Jan. 8 (Yonhap) -- Bridgestone Tire Sales Korea Ltd. said Tuesday it will supply its tires for Hyundai Motor Co.'s flagship Palisade SUV to be built in the carmaker's global plants.
The South Korean unit of Tokyo-based Bridgestone Corp. will supply 18-inch and 20-inch Dueler H/P Sport AS tire products to the Hyundai Palisade SUV in the form of original equipment (OE) tires, the company said in a statement.
The company didn't give the timeframe and the value of the deal.
The world's largest tire and rubber company has recently supplied OE tires to Hyundai's luxury sub-brand Genesis G70 sedan and the Stinger sports car made by Hyundai's affiliate Kia Motors Corp.
In general, supplying OE tires to carmakers does not generate much revenue for tiremakers but securing big companies as clients helps improve their brand image and can lead to the raising of product prices down the line.
For tiremakers, it is more profitable to sell replacement equipment (RE) tires in after-sales markets.
