Hyundai SUVs' sales top 2 mln in S. Korea
SEOUL, July 5 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's largest carmaker, said Tuesday it has sold more than 2 million sports utility vehicles in South Korea since 1991 when it debuted its first SUV Galloper.
Hyundai has since introduced five other SUVs -- Terracan, Veracruz, Santa Fe, Tucson and Maxcruz. But the carmaker later stopped productions of Galloper, Terracan and Veracruz.
Hyundai said cumulative sales of its sports utility vehicles came to more than 2.01 million as of last month. Hyundai is the only carmaker that sold more than 2 million SUVs in South Korea.
Santa Fe is the most popular Hyundai SUV. The carmaker said Santa Fe's cumulative sales stood at 965,340 units and they could reach 1 million mark later this year.
