“Agent” is an industry-standard term commonly used to describe AI assistants. Customers can build agents in Copilot Studio and publish them to other platforms to improve their organization’s business processes. Agents built in Copilot Studio can be added to Microsoft 365 Copilot to give Copilot access to new knowledge and skills and to execute processes on your behalf. The ability to build and add agents to Microsoft 365 Copilot is included in the Microsoft 365 Copilot license.
- Copilot Studio is the most comprehensive tool for building agents. Those licensed for Microsoft 365 Copilot can create agents using Copilot Studio within Microsoft 365 Copilot. There is no extra charge for agents built and used within Microsoft 365 environments.
Copilot Studio is also available as a standalone product with its own licensing options. Build, deploy, and manage agents for use outside Microsoft 365, including websites, external apps, or with custom connectors. Usage is metered and you pay based on the number of messages your agents process.
