With Windows 365, organizations can choose whether a PC, with its locally installed OS, or a Cloud PC, with its cloud-based OS, is the best fit for a particular user or role in the organization. In some cases, a user may benefit from having both and choosing the best tool for the job.1 - Windows 365 is for organizations of all sizes that need secure and agile hybrid work solutions for elastic workforces, distributed employees, or specialized workloads with versatile computing and storage capabilities, accessible on any device.1
- Government Community Cloud (GCC) customers:
If your organization does not require CJIS, IRS 1075, or other GCC High controls, you may choose Windows 365 Enterprise or Windows 365 Frontline with FedRAMP compliance, which use Azure. These options meet FedRAMP High requirements for most state and local needs and provide a simplified deployment.
We recommend you choose Windows 365 Government GCC only if you have US government regulations requiring sovereign cloud support, such as CJIS and IRS 1075.
Government Community Cloud High (GCC High) customers:
Choose Windows 365 Government GCC High.1 - No. You cannot migrate or combine Windows 365 Enterprise and Government (GCC or GCC High) plans in a single tenant for security reasons, so it is important to purchase the best SKU for your needs.
Windows 365 Government is designed according to United States defense, federal, state, local, and tribal agency security and compliance requirements. Government contractors sponsored to hold and process certain controlled data types are also eligible for the Microsoft Government Cloud. To use Windows 365 Government, each user must be licensed for Windows 11 Enterprise or Windows 10 Enterprise, Intune, and Microsoft Entra ID P1. Intune and Microsoft Entra ID P1 are included in Microsoft 365 G3, Microsoft 365 G5, Microsoft 365 F3, Microsoft 365 E3, Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 A3, Microsoft 365 A5, Microsoft 365 Business Premium, and Microsoft 365 Education Student Use Benefit subscriptions, or they can be purchased separately. Windows 365 Government is only available in the US.
Windows 365 Enterprise for FedRAMP and Windows 365 Frontline for FedRAMP are versions of Windows 365 that are deployed entirely within the Government Community Cloud (GCC) authorized at FedRAMP High, and meet most state, local, tribal, and some federal agency requirements that exclude Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Publication 1075.
